Chapter 7

Honestly guys, I postponed writing this chapter AS LATE AS I COULD, because I really want to live my life before you kill me So, yeah, I hope you, uh, ‘enjoy.’

“Hey Forrest? Can we talk?”  I was a little nervous, I’d told him this before, but we had just seemed so… Distant, lately. Hopefully this news would bring us closer together, again.

“Guess what honey, I’m pregnant again!”

When he pulled his ‘shock’ face, I was pretty much persuaded that he was excited about our 2nd unborn child.

Until I reached his eyes.

His eye were shock, but not happy shock.

Regret shock.

Mad shock.

Angry shock.

“That’s- that’s amazing Freesia.”

If I had known that Clover Leaf’s crying would put him over the top, I would’ve fed him sooner.

“WHAT DO YOU MEAN ANOTHER CHILD?”

“I- I thought you wanted this, Forrest, I thought you wanted a bigger family.”

“Wanted?” each word was a slap to my face, “WANTED this? I shouldn’t have committed myself so soon, Freesia! If I had known that White’s were- White’s were…”

“White’s were what, Forrest?”

“White’s were…” He couldn’t seem to find the right words, then I saw it. Saw it reflected it all over his face.

“Don’t say it,” I pleaded, “Please don’t say i-,”

“MISTAKES,” Forrest screamed, making Clover cry even more.

I could feel tears welling up in my eyes, I didn’t understand.

“You LOVED me Forrest! You still do! Why would you even say that…? Knowing my past… You didn’t care that I was a White, even though I explained it to you THOUROUGHLY! You STILL LOVED ME. What has changed? I want my Forrest back.” I whimpered.

I walked out of the room and picked up Clover Leaf, and that immediately eased his crying. I stalked back into the room Forrest was standing in, and stood in front of him. “This is your child, Forrest, our child! What has gotten into you?”

Forrest looked deep into the eyes of Clover Leaf, then finally said, “He was a mistake.”

My world shattered, how he could say that, I didn’t know. But by now I feel feel tears streaming down my cheeks.

“H- how could you say that? I am carrying YOUR child Forrest! Is there someone else? Am I  just not good enough for you?”

“You changed, you care more about precious Clover Leaf more than me!”

“And guess what? There IS someone else! You’re just too blind to see it!”

“Forrest… I- I’m not the only one who changed.”

Forrest took one last look at his son, then stated, “I’m leaving. I don’t care about you anymore Freesia. I love someone else now.”

As he walked out the door, I had a shocked, hurt, angry expression on my face. The expression just changed to hurt and hopelessness when he said, before walking out the door, “You were a mistake.”
